incidental benefits

20.2kilos - GONE!!! :D
congratulations andrew. no matter how hard you hunt, may you NEVER find those kgs  again!!

the graph attached?
the red line, depicts a weight loss journey of just under one kilo a week starting from day one of the 3kaday challenge - 1st january 2011 and with a goal date of 1st july ... giving a slow, SAFE, achievable body morph!

andrew has remained consistently, just below, that red line - losing, after an initial large loss, around half to one kilo each week ... while the challenge was not and is not about 'weight loss' as a number - it is an incidental benefit of having such a goal - alongside SO MANY additional benefits when introducing exercise and nutritional food into your life

from my viewpoint and watching the year unfold, andrew has changed so much - from the food eaten on a regular basis to the attitude towards exercise, and also what is classed as 'exercise', for it can be a very broad term... trying to remain as active as possible in normal everyday life (incidental exercise) is as important as making a conscious effort to exercise regularly... plus, andrews attitude towards - himself!

this past week, i have had to reel him in and slow him down a little (sorry sir!) :D ... he has been gung ho to get himself involved in everything, while keeping the walking up to reach the 1095km goal by the years end ... it's absolutely fantastic to see such enthusiasm, however, can also lead to injury, fatigue, burn out ...
we have had a few training sessions now over and above the walking, plus he has done balance, pump, bike and combat classes at the fitness venue - its most impressive to see someone willing to give anything a go -

note to graph: andrew, is against **numbers**! not interested!
*i*, on the other hand, am a numbers person and thrive on statistics and measurements and heart rates and dotting every i !  :) well. anal. sadly. but that actually is true, however, i also am quite aware it is neither the be all and end all as every week the results you are gaining in a positive direction are to expansive and arent necessarily reflected on 'scales' ...
but, to begin with especially, im a believer that if someone needs to lose a lot of weight, then some sort of yardstick to measure against is needed to make sure the effort put in reflects in some sort of tangible way, if not, what is 'being done' can be looked at and altered as necessary ... establishing a progression ..
hence, the numbers are not visible because, they are of no real importance, nor does andrew want to know or share - they merely depict, to someone wanting to take a similar journey a consistency on a graph... and the possibilities and excitement as you watch them head downwards!
