the f word

guess who was spied in the fruit shop - buying - fruit and vegetables!!! :D

a most pleasing sight - and a long way from the bakery and pie days of not so long ago - huge brownie points andrew :D there is always eyes watching when you live in a small town :D

the journey of health really is about making better choices for ourselves - and most of those begin before we head home with our trolley load of groceries and packaged foods.
food choice, is of utmost importance - we can do all the exercise we want in the world, but it can be for nought if we use that as an excuse to then overindulge

australia day recognition

for my protection! - hello stranger :)
day 26 - 4kms - total 93 kms

Being Australia Day, what better way to start off the morning than to head down to the PCYC with the family for breakfast and to enjoy the Australia Day celebrations.

One of the memorable experiences of the day was meeting Judy, the Healthy Communities Coordinator, who actually recognised me from the blog (looks like I have to pull out of the witness protection program now!)

not missing any

day 25 - 4kms - total 89 kms.

With an afternoon walk planned before attending training at SES, I ended up missing SES training as I was tired and didn't want to sacrifice my walk. Feeling I had let friends down with my non-attendance, I had to make the hard decision and continue on. Sorry...
With a slightly longer walk undertaken, it was an early night to bed for me, something I haven't done for a long time.

return to the school year

day 24 - 4kms - total 85 kms.

Monday's walk was a planned assault in two stages: 1) get the kids to school on time on their first day.  2) try a new a walking route.
With Jai starting Year 2 and Cooper having his first day at Prep, the challenge was to get them to school ON TIME whilst fitting in a walk with the kids.

sensational sunday

day 23 - 4kms - total 81kms.

What a great afternoon for a walk. Surrounded by all my friends, the lonely walk was great to freshen the mind and reflect on the past week.

I must do this more often (yeah, i know TarzANN "you can do it every day"), however every now and then it is great to just get out there by oneself and walk.

The distance seemed short today, in that I covered 4km which seemed to just fly by. I felt like I could walk and walk forever (obviously my legs would wear down to my kneecaps beforehand), mainly due to the great weather, with a nice breeze cooling my muscular physique :)

why invent hills?!

better lean forward

another success

3km saturday!!! total 77kms

The breeze today was nice, however in hindsight i headed in the wrong direction...away from the windy areas. Whilst there has been worse humidity in the air, i feel my timings today, being earlier than normal didn't help the situation. (sometimes i don't have a choice of times to walk as  have to base it on my kids movements also)

I'm not reading scales this week as i would rather be comfortable in my routine (well doing 3k a day) instead of concerned about the dreaded scales. They seem to occupy more time for many starting out i feel than necessary, with my aim to feel good first and see the benefits thereafter.

creating a positive habit

water and banana at the ready!
a 6km day once again - hitting the path from cannonvale beach to abel point, a 5km return journey, andrew adding an extra km by walking from his home to the beach return. great thought and great effort, instead of driving the car to the beach! every time anyone chooses walking over driving it's a step in a positive direction, both for themselves and the carbon footprint!

storm, new camera in tow, joined us for the walk and in the cool of the early evening became photographer of the day

a lot of people out walking and running this evening - normal, it's always good knowing there are people that take advantage of where we live. the water with the activity of the boats as a backdrop always creates a wonderfully scenic place to walk or run, plus many distractions.
this evenings walk - took just over an hour, well, the 5k component of it i did with andrew - a good result.

lucky 21

day 21 - 6kms - total 74kms.

eventually it will take over the world

creating the enthusiasm

exercising EVERY day, is important. especially if you are after weight loss.
then once the weight starts coming off, you need to start challenging yourself even more beyond walking, but you WILL feel like doing that because your energy levels will increase accordingly, especially with the good food you are also introducing your body to (of course you are! right? :D )
it doesn't matter where you live, who you are,  or what your fitness levels are - anyone, EVERYONE can walk.

wow so quick the year

day 20 already  - it sees another 3km added on .... 68km total  :)

Much better weather tonight

day 17 - a 6km day

day 17 - 6kms - total for year 59kms (the serious take again)

andrew met me at the gym after pump class at the fitness venue - already there and sitting at the tables waiting - a quick introduction to michelle, discussion of distances and we were off to abel point, goal to make today a 6km distance - still hot in the sun though it was 5.30 ... down to cannonvale beach and of course, along the beach and boardwalk. as we went it did get a little cooler - thankfully.

gorgeous evidence

Sorry Ann, i cheated and took this yacht home instead LOL

an 8k achievement

My return journey thoughts as I walked Cannonvale Beach to Lagoon (return) with TarzANN...

  • Walk/Run with good looking people, it'll make you feel good to be seen with them :)
  • Walk/Run with somebody you have not talked to in some time..... it makes for an interesting conversation and breaks the family talk that you are used to at home.
  • The value in Gyms is not only the fitness side, rather it is the concentration of like-minded, motivated individuals for a common goal.
  • Shave your hair, you will walk faster and save time.

an 8k day - what!

the serious take :)
8kms today!!! creating a total of 53km for 2011 :D he is gonna blitz 1095kms for the year - i do not doubt it!!

andrew phoned around lunch time and asked if i would go walking with him  - how could i say no ;) - so we planned on meeting up at 2.30, cannonvale beach. destination: abel point - roughly 5kms return (?) ...
he texted me he was running 10 minutes late - 10 to 3 he shows up, just when i was about to send a blasting text!! LUCKY!

off we trotted - along the beach and boardwalks nattering away - but, at abel point we didnt stop - he wanted to keep going - we went all the way to the lagoon - most impressive!
great to catch up on all things 'life' - he will HAVE to write of our adventure, and no doubt it will be hilarious as he made me laugh

the evidence

Can't beat the views, even on an overcast day.

choices

andrew: 1.57pm
walked into a BP service centre with McDonalds and KFC inside, and ordered a salad roll, pineapple juice and green vegetables.....what am I thinking? LOL

ann: 2:43pm
and doesn't it seem you like you now ate 'real' food that satisfied you instead of cardboard!!!
i am INCREDIBLY proud of you!! well done.
keep making smart decisions andrew! x

andrew: 2:51pm
Yeah Ann, must look at another way to obtain my fibre ;)

the forgotten, still live

time passes very quickly... in the everyday hustle and bustle of life, i had forgotten andrew :P

after a balance workout at the gym, i head into my car to a missed call on my phone from him - i phone back. he was calling just to 'touch base' cos its been a while - a WHILE!!? haha ... nah. nine days!! who's counting!

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

he is found

phew. i was beginning to think i had lost my 2011 protégé for good!

not much of a find - mobile contact - skant information given out to his actual whereabouts - enroute from a to z after helping out the people at rocky in the floods ... :D
ann: 4:58pm
where are you my missing in action pal! are you doing your 3k? are you breathing? are you ....... alive!?

andrew: 5:06pm
lol. They switched off the life support button the other day!

Sunday, January 2, 2011

in hiding already?

so.
where is andrew on day TWO?*

where? either in rocky with the ses, pulling the plug and attempting to empty it of water, or in toowoomba collecting children
at least, thats what im led to believe :P there is only so many caves and shorelines i can search before i would simply give up!
andrew, wherever your hidey hole is - remember the main rule :)
twenty ten plus one, IS the year of NO EXCUSES! :D
