day 17 - a 6km day

day 17 - 6kms - total for year 59kms (the serious take again)

andrew met me at the gym after pump class at the fitness venue - already there and sitting at the tables waiting - a quick introduction to michelle, discussion of distances and we were off to abel point, goal to make today a 6km distance - still hot in the sun though it was 5.30 ... down to cannonvale beach and of course, along the beach and boardwalk. as we went it did get a little cooler - thankfully.

a bit of a chat break when we bump into fellow ses'er chris riding his bike through the park with his gorgeous dog
a note - need to speed andrew up when he gets a break like that!! too much rest time :)

my favourite boat was in the marina - the camira. purple - completely purple with a purple sail - what could be more divine in a vessel. need to figure how to get me on board!
but a really lovely time of the evening to walk ...
abel point sign indeed, just before the roundabout where andrew was roundabout'ing, said 2.5kms. so from his home to the gym then to abel, back to his home. easily 6kms.
he has been developing shin splints (is that the terminology! developing? :D) they dont seem to be a HUGE problem when he is walking - advice when i enquired from the trainers at the fitness venue - to ice, and to stretch. (and back to a 3km day again tomorrow! - a little rest)  he lost misplaced his brand new shoes he bought for this very special year! (ha) so has been wearing some open toed things. he is going to go buy new ones tomorrow! not that that is entirely the problem as he was getting shin splints when wearing the new shoes ....
BUT, walking can apparently cause shin splints, i was totally unaware of that so a learning for me indeed to take on board and be conscious of. i dont think it is something i have ever had so i guess i have been fortunate.
i left him at abel point roundabout so i could continue on to my place - while he went back, the road we had travelled back to his - walking can be really lovely when you have good company to do it with.

an additional find for this post:
some great articles to read here - on weight loss and nutrition ... but be warned! they are straight to the point, and this dude takes no care about offending anyone. words we must hear. all of us. this guy also delves into many other areas of life too, which are all great and easy reads. - change yourself in a positive way - start when ? start NOW - TODAY, take hold of the moment
all it takes to begin is exactly what andrew is doing. take that first step. continue on that new path. and things can and WILL, only improve.

hard work? yes.  worth it? most definitely YES!!!

fat by choice <- one i particularly love ... for it was *me* pre weight loss.

why we're still fat <- *physical transformation works from the inside-out*
